Connecting Talent with Opportunity
Lead Electrical Engineer
Job Description
The Lead Electrical Engineer will direct all electrical engineering, procurement review, site execution, quality assurance, and testing & commissioning for large-scale infrastructure projects. The role requires on-site technical leadership across high-tension (HT) and low-tension (LT) systems, substation charging, statutory authority clearances, and multi-disciplinary MEP coordination for mission-critical facilities (Super-Specialty Hospitals, Airport/Transit Terminals, or Government EPC Campuses).
Key Responsibilities
- HT/LT Substation & Power Distribution Execution: Direct the erection, cold/hot testing, and commissioning of 11kV/33kV/66kV indoor/outdoor substations, power transformers, HT/LT switchgears (VCBs, ACBs), busducts, DG synchronizing setups, and high-capacity central UPS networks.
- Critical Facility Systems Integration:
- Healthcare: Supervise the installation of Isolated Power Systems (IPS) for Operating Theatres/ICUs, line isolation monitors (LIM), medical-grade clean earthing, and life-safety branch isolation per NFPA 99 / NEC 517 / NBC standards.
- Terminals & Large Campuses: Integrate primary power feeds with central chilled water HVAC plants, baggage handling systems, passenger information networks, dynamic lighting, and smart Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Engineering Audits & Design Verification: Review and approve Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), cable sizing calculations, short-circuit and fault-level analyses, protective relay coordination schemes, and harmonic mitigation designs submitted by design consultants.
- Statutory Compliance & Grid Energization: Lead liaison with the Chief Electrical Inspectorate (CEIG), State Electricity Boards (DISCOMs), and municipal fire authorities to secure statutory approvals, inspection sign-offs, and final substation charging certificates.
- EPC Contractor & Commercial Governance: Drive Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) at vendor facilities, oversee Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), audit contractor Bills of Quantities (BOQ), manage technical variation orders, and coordinate with structural/BIM teams to resolve spatial clashes.
Professional Skills
- Educational Background: B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) from an accredited university.
- Technical & Domain Expertise:
- 10–15+ years of demonstrable field execution experience in large-scale EPC infrastructure (Airports, 300+ Bed Hospitals, or Government Campuses).
- In-depth mastery of HT substation charging protocols, grounding/earthing mat calculations, and lightning protection systems.
- Deep familiarity with National Building Code (NBC), Central Electricity Authority (CEA) regulations, IEEE/IEC standards, and CPWD/MES specifications.
- Licensing & Certifications (Preferred):
- Valid Electrical Supervisor Competency Certificate (Class A / HT Grade) issued by the State Licensing Board / CEIG.
- Project Management Professional (PMP®) or Certified Energy Manager (BEE).
- Software & Project Tools: Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP (load flow/short-circuit verification), Dialux (photometric analysis), and project scheduling tools (MS Project / Primavera P6).
- Interpersonal & Contractual Competencies: Strong vendor dispute resolution, subcontractor negotiation, multidisciplinary MEP coordination, and EPC/FIDIC contract management.
